چکیده

Despite the high thermal efficiency achieved by modern heavy-duty diesel engines, over 40% of energy contained in fuel is wasted as heat either cooling or exhaust gases. By recovering part energy, overall engine increases and pollutant emissions are reduced. Organic Rankine cycle (ORC) systems considered a favourable candidate technology to recover gas waste heat, because their simplicity small backpressure impact on performance consumption. The recovered can be transformed into electricity directly mechanical power. In this study, an axial turbine expander for ORC system was designed optimized which real-world data were available. consumption under various operating points investigated. Compared equipped with radial expander, design improved between 2 10% at low speeds. Finally, benefits utilising recovery trucks evaluated performing drive tests, it found that highest values NEDC HDUDDS these cycles generally involve more dynamic driving profiles. However, could reduction 5 4.8%, respectively.

Increasing waste heat recovery from an internal combustion engine by a dual-loop non-organic Rankine Cycle

This research proposes the combination of a dual-loop non-organic Rankine cycle (DNORC) with an internal combustion engine to increase the output power of the recovery system by focusing on the increase in the energy input and system efficiency. In doing so, it investigates the strategy of increasing the mean effective temperature of heat addition in the high-temperature Rankine cycle (HTRC) (t...

Analyzing the Performance of a Dual Loop Organic Rankine Cycle System for Waste Heat Recovery of a Heavy-Duty Compressed Natural Gas Engine

A dual loop organic Rankine cycle (DORC) system is designed to recover waste heat from a heavy-duty compressed natural gas engine (CNGE), and the performance of the DORC–CNGE combined system is simulated and discussed. The DORC system includes high-temperature (HT) and low-temperature (LT) cycles. The HT cycle recovers energy from the exhaust gas emitted by the engine, whereas the LT cycle reco...

Efficiency of Compact Organic Rankine Cycle System with Rotary-Vane-Type Expander for Low-Temperature Waste Heat Recovery

This paper describes the experimental efficiency of a compact organic Rankine cycle (ORC) system with a compact rotary-vane-type expander. The compact ORC system can be used for power generation from low-temperature heat sources such as waste heat from various small-scale heat engines, fuel cells, electric devices, and solar thermal energy. The purpose of this study is to develop an ORC system ...

Preliminary Design and Simulation of a Turbo Expander for Small Rated Power Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC)

Nowadays, the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) system, which operates with organic fluids, is one of the leading technologies for “waste energy recovery”. It works as a conventional Rankine Cycle but, as mentioned, instead of steam/water, an organic fluid is used. This change allows it to convert low temperature heat into electric energy where required. Large numbers of studies have been carried out...
